Message templates & broadcasts
Save frequently used content as a message template for welcome cards, introduction cards, auto-replies, or broadcasts. Circle owners and admins can send broadcasts from the console for reminders and announcements.
Create a message template
Section titled “Create a message template”- Open Console → Chat → Message templates and choose New template.
- Name the template and choose a message type: text, a long-form post, a contact card, or an app card.
- Edit the content and check the preview. App cards can have a title, cover, description, and buttons that open links or send text; you can reorder the buttons.
- Save the template. You can edit, duplicate, or delete it later, and send a preview to your own Mixin account.
Templates belong to the current circle. In a welcome card, introduction card, or auto-reply editor, choose Use a template to copy compatible content into the editor; review and save that page to apply it. You can also save the page’s content first and choose Save as template. Copies are independent: editing or deleting a template later does not change saved cards, auto-replies, or broadcast history.
Send a broadcast
Section titled “Send a broadcast”- Open Console → Chat → Broadcasts and choose New broadcast, or start a broadcast from a template in the library.
- Choose a template from this circle and select the audience. All members includes the owner, admins, lecturers, and members; you can also select individual roles, including followers and expired members.
- Check the estimated recipient count and use Send test to me to check the content in Mixin. A test does not create a broadcast record.
- Choose Send now and confirm. The content and recipients are fixed at confirmation and cannot be edited after sending.
- Open the broadcast details to see its status, counts, and failure reasons.
People who have turned off circle messages are excluded. If the circle pauses messages for inactive members, those currently paused are also excluded. The recipient list is fixed when you confirm.
Check results, stop, or recall
Section titled “Check results, stop, or recall”The details page shows targeted, sent, failed, delivered, and read counts. Delivered and read counts only include receipts reported by Mixin clients, so the actual numbers may be higher. Only totals are shown, not individual read status. Check the failed list for reasons a message was not sent.
You can stop a broadcast while it is in progress; messages already queued may still arrive. Once it has finished, you can recall it within the permitted time. Recall is processed in the background and may be rejected by Mixin.
A broadcast here is a one-time send, separate from Broadcast chat mode. See also Chat modes and auto-replies and The welcome experience.
