Staying safe on Mixin

Money in Mixin is real money, so look after it the way you’d look after cash. The good news: three rules will steer you clear of almost every scam.

  • Never share anything key-related — credentials files, recovery phrases, private keys, verification codes: anyone who asks for these is a scammer, no exceptions.
  • Official support never comes asking — OhMy.xin and Mixin will never message you first to ask for transfers, keys, or personal details. If you get such a message, ignore it and report it.
  • Check who you’re paying before you send — payments only happen in flows started from an OhMy.xin payment page; ignore payment requests from strangers.
  • Use the official way in — join a circle only through the invite link shared by its owner, and pay only on the payment page inside the circle’s bot conversation.
  • “Insider tips” and “guaranteed returns” are red flags — especially in trading circles, be wary of anything that promises profits.
  • Only upgrade from the app store — when a transfer needs a newer Mixin Messenger, update from the official app store; never tap an install package shared in a chat.

Circle owners who create a bot receive a credentials file (keystore). It holds all of the bot’s powers. Use it only in the upload step of OhMy.xin’s connect wizard, and never send it to anyone — including people who claim to be official.
