Spark points
Spark is the points system that rewards members for showing up. It is on by default and works without any setup. Members only ever see their own points — there is no public leaderboard.
How points are earned
Section titled “How points are earned”| Action | Each | Daily cap |
|---|---|---|
| Reading a post / article / story | 1 | 3 |
| Reacting or voting | 1 | 3 |
| Commenting | 2 | 3 |
| Posting | 3 | 2 |
| Sending a group-chat message | 1 | 3 |
- Across all actions, at most 10 qualifying actions count per day.
- A read only counts after the page stays visible for about 5 seconds, and the same content doesn’t count again for 90 days.
- Whether chat messages score can be switched off separately (see the toggles below) — handy if you only want points from reading, reacting, commenting, and posting. Bot and system messages never count.
Streaks and levels
Section titled “Streaks and levels”- The first qualifying action of each day keeps the streak alive and adds a bonus equal to the streak length (capped at 7). Miss a day and the streak resets; lifetime points and level are untouched.
- Lifetime points light up five crown levels. Each member sees their own total, streak, and level on the Mine page:
| Level | Name | Lifetime points |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ember | 0 |
| 2 | Kindling | 40 |
| 3 | Flame | 150 |
| 4 | Blaze | 500 |
| 5 | Beacon | 1200 |
What you configure
Section titled “What you configure”The Settings → Spark points section holds just two toggles, each with its own helper text on the page:
- The first toggle runs the whole points system — “Turn on to let members earn points from circle activity. Their total, streak, and level show on profile (Mine). Turn off to pause earning; saved points stay.” On by default.
- The second toggle decides whether chat messages count — “Include ordinary chat messages in the points system (on by default). Turn off if you only want points from reading, reactions, comments, and posts.”
The other place Spark matters is luck campaigns: a red packet can target “by Spark” so only members at or above a chosen level can claim it — an exclusive perk for your active regulars.
Points can’t be spent, transferred, or cashed out; they record participation and unlock levels.
